Associate Coach: Chris Dalman
Diving experience:
Chris started his experience on the pool deck when he was still in diapers when
his father Jeff Dalman was performing at the Sea World – Great American High
Diving Team in
Aurora
. Chris then moved to the greater
Seattle
area at age 5 where he began diving himself under his father’s direction in
the Rainier Dive Club. As the years passed, Chris then moved on to higher levels
of competitive training and moved to the dive club, Emerald Diving in
Federal Way
,
Washington
under the coaching expertise of two time Olympian Kelly McKormick Robertson.
Throughout his experience with Kelly, he competed at numerous national
championships in age group receiving All American accolades and top finalist
finishes. In 1999, just after 9th grade, he competed at the FINA
International Junior World Championships. 4-time All American in High School, 2-
time Washington State Champion, and Senior National Finalist. Chris then became
part of the
Cleveland
State
University
roster in 2005 where he claimed the Horizon League Conference 1st
place for two years. Then in 2007, for the first time in 30 years, he
represented CSU at the NCAA National Championship to finish his collegiate
career. Currently Chris holds the record in the 1 m event for
Cleveland
State
.
Coaching
Experience:
Chris has been teaching diving since about age 16. For the past ten years he has
been involved with both training himself and training others in the artistic
discipline of springboard and platform diving. Chris started his coaching with a
small diving lessons program in 2000. In 2002 he continued his coaching
experience at the High School level where in his first year had both girls and
boys qualify and final at the state competition in Washington. With a brief
Hiatus in coaching starting in 2005 while he was competing for
Cleveland
State
, Chris came back to coaching High School in 2007 here in
Ohio
for
Westlake
High School
. During the past 3 years at Westlake, Chris has had the honor to coach already
skilled divers and brand new divers who would pull through the ranks and
challenges of a short high school season and qualify
for and final at the district and state tournaments.
